  COASTS & OCEANS OBSERVING LAB

Better Data,
Better Decisions

Our goal is to not only "do science", but to connect that science with measurable action. We work with scientists and managers to make sure we generate the right data and make it accessible.

We tackle critical problems of coastal change and engage with communities to ensure they have the information they need to make the important decisions about conservation, restoration, and protection.

The COOL lab just awarded
NASA Coastal Resilience Grant

In this project, we will develop improved predictions of the most rapidly changing coastal processes, while quantifying how compounded disturbances from sea level rise and cyclone flooding have altered coastal resilience over the past several decades

COOL awarded NSF DISES

Our study of EbA for cyclones will contribute to SES theory by advancing understanding of the dynamic causal interactions between SES actions and the outcomes and drivers that shape these interactions in response to extreme events
